My name is Byoungchan (or Chris), and I work on physics, math, computing, and other stuff, mostly in the realm of plasma physics and nuclear fusion.
I’m working on my PhD at the University of Maryland in the stellarator group.
My research is a combination of plasma physics, optimization, numerical methods and machine learning. I’m one of the contributors to the DESC code for stellarator optimization, as well as a few smaller things including:
- deepxde-gs for data-free Grad–Shafranov solves
- weightedpca for PCA with sample weights
- exponential spectral scaling, now part of simsopt and DESC
You can find me on Google Scholar, on github, or via email at mail@byoungj.com.
